This is a part of a poppy sculpture to commemorate the First World War which is situated in Teddington High Street near to the River Thames there. There is an interesting lock there too.
It was difficult to isolate it from the busy urban background but I managed one against the white sky. I only had my 50mm lens with me so it was me that was close to it with the lens wide open.

Beautiful Trudie. I saw a story about this I think on the news when it was being installed. One poppy for each soldier who lost their life. Nice way to pay tribute to them.

The poppies you were referring to were installed at the Tower of London. This one was in a local High Street. I am not sure there was a connection or not. I will have to check.

This sounds like the tribute to WWI soldiers in the poem, “In Flanders Fields” by Lt. Col. John McCrae (1872 – 1916) which begins: “In Flanders Fields the poppies blow between the crosses row on row.” . . .Good job in capturing that poppy !

Nice. At first I thought it was fake but I didn’t think sculpture.
