Week 37 – 48.What a Character

365_07.04.17

Another image from our Scottish trip. Dundee is famous for 3 Js, so I learned at school. Jam, Jute and Journalism. Sadly all three of its famous products are no longer centred in Dundee. D C Thompson was the journalism one and among other papers, they were famous for many comics. The Dandy was one of them and Desperate Dan was one of the characters. There is a statue commemorating him in the High Street. I waited patiently for a person to add a bit of interest to the statue and this gentleman stepped into the frame. I thought he was perfect for the image, looking like a typical character of Dundee. I am not sure if he spotted me or not. So, two “What a Character’s for the price of one.

Week 36. – 49. Where the “________” meets the sky.

365_06.04.17

My take on the clue is “Where the ship’s funnel meets the sky”.

This is “HMS Discovery”, now in Dundee, Scotland. We visited her last week when we were there to see my relatives. HMS Discovery was Scott of Antartica’s ship and it was interesting to see the history of the ship and the exploration. Dundee was a whaling centre in the 19th and 20th centuries and the seamen who sailed in the whaling ships shared their expertise in the building of the ship and the preparations for the journey and expedition.

In the background is the new wing of the Victoria and Albert Museum of London. It is a controversial building I believe with the locals. It is built over the water but had to be modified to take account of the tides. It looks like a landing craft from land. It will be interesting to see how it looks when it is complete.

Week35. 28. Repeating Patterns

Week35.17

Having fun again. I have collected many glass bottles and vases and found different graphical paper in many shades and designs so I am looking forward to a play with them all. This is the first session.

I have caught up uploading but I am still behind with commenting. I am away in Scotland for a few days but I will catch up on return next week.
