Week 8 -36. Stitched together

knole-park-stitched-statue_1

This is one of the images I took when we visited Knole Park. It was in the Orangery. Imagine my disappointment when I loaded my  photos for the day and found I had 2 images of the statue above but one had a piece of the arm missing and the other had a piece of the foot missing. I asked someone at the Club if I could merge the two to get a complete version of the whole statue. He promised to help. As I was about to send the images to him I remembered ‘Photomerge’ and tried that. It worked. It ‘stitched the 2 images together’ and even filled in the missing background. I processed the image in Silver Efex Pro 2 and added a black border. What caught my eye was the play of light on the bodies and the shadows adding to the effect of the beautiful carving.

Here are the the 2 incomplete images.

Week 7 -34. Splash of Colour

Week 7 -34. Splash of Colourweek-7

We visited Knole Park in Sevenoaks in Kent this week, somewhere we visited 49 years ago on our honeymoon. This was taken in the Orangery where there were stone statues and plaques on the walls. This plaque was painted by colour

reflected through the stained glass windows opposite, ‘painting with light’ no less.
