Imagine my delight when I uploaded this. It was nearly dark when I took it but I did not expect such a good example of the blue hour!

Week 3 – 23. If Flowers Could Talk

Week 3.17

Another sunflower. The sunflower bed is doing well this year. Taller than usual and a great variety this year.

If this flower could talk, I think it would be saying, “Look at me. Wake up. Enjoy life.” They are such joyful flowers to me. They light up my world. Then when they die and the seeds come they still bring a smile to my face with the antics the squirrels get up to harvesting the seeds. I am so glad our garden can make them grow.

Week 52 – A5 Seasonal

SONY DSC

We plant out Sunflowers every year which I grow from seed. This is the first of the year. I always look forward to their cheerful colours and the entertainment they provide in the Autumn when the squirrels feast on the seeds.

Thank you all for your inspiration, your encouragement and the knowledge you share both with the photographic techniques you describe and the information about the location and subjects of the images. I look forward to another year.

Week 1. – 52. Yellow

Sunflowers are one of my favourite flowers and we usually have a bed of them in the garden with a selection of varieties in it. As well as their bright colours and watching how high they grow, when it comes to seed time the squirrels give us amusement as they climb to eat the seeds or store them for the winter. All you can see is the sunflower suddenly bending as if by itself before you spot the squirrel climbing the stalk. This year the sunflowers are thin on the ground so this is the only one that has grown to any kind of glory!  I like the tousled look it has. It was a very windy day and it took a while to wait for a still moment.
