Week 51 – 24. Out of Bounds

I tried to do the ‘Out of Bounds’ technique but gave up after the second attempt. I had trouble selecting! I shall have to do a tutorial on using the selection tools.

This image was taken at the Barbican in London. We met our younger son and we went round the Estate with our camera. It was a great evening. Quality time with him. It was ‘out of bounds’ because the subject was in the private residential area of the Estate.

This one was ‘out of bounds’ because this beautiful bench was inside a building which we went into uninvited to get a better shot. Luckily we did not get locked in. We went in and out behind someone who had the codes to work the doors. I am sure our youngest enjoyed his Mum being naughty.

The last image is a general view showing some of the different types of architecture.

A Grade II listed building, the Barbican is Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue and one of London’s best examples of Brutalist architecture.

It was developed from designs by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon as part of a utopian vision to transform an area of London left devastated by bombing during the Second World War.

The Centre took over a decade to build and was opened by The Queen in 1982, who declared it ‘one of the modern wonders of the world’ with the building seen as a landmark in terms of its scale, cohesion and ambition. Its stunning spaces and unique location at the heart of the Barbican Estate have made it an internationally recognised venue, set within an urban landscape acknowledged as one of the most significant architectural achievements of the 20th century.

Week 27 -6. Beam(s)Light

This is another night shot taken on our birthday. It is car light trails from the Embankment bridge overlooking Thames Embankment at the Underground Station. First one again. I waited through traffic light changes and managed to get red and black and cycle trails I think. Yes I can see some other trips coming on. I wonder how late the Wheel operates………………….. and what about a roundabout or a nice long curved bend…………and…………

Lovely memories to keep me going throughout the year.

Week 25 – 41.The Night Sky

It was my birthday this week, which I share with our younger son. He asked me what I wanted to do and I asked him to take me up to London to do some night shooting. This was the best of a bad job but we had so much fun and it broke the ice for further learning. I did some light trails too. This was taken from the bridge that takes you to the Embankment tube station. His girlfriend and my husband came too so it was a good opportunity to get to know her and share a pizza too
