Another image from our Scottish trip. Dundee is famous for 3 Js, so I learned at school. Jam, Jute and Journalism. Sadly all three of its famous products are no longer centred in Dundee. D C Thompson was the journalism one and among other papers, they were famous for many comics. The Dandy was one of them and Desperate Dan was one of the characters. There is a statue commemorating him in the High Street. I waited patiently for a person to add a bit of interest to the statue and this gentleman stepped into the frame. I thought he was perfect for the image, looking like a typical character of Dundee. I am not sure if he spotted me or not. So, two “What a Character’s for the price of one.

I agree with you. There is somewhat of a resemblance.

How quaint. I am looking forward to my trip over to England and Scotland. Hopefully, the characters will still be out and about.

There was even a piper playing there. I am sure there will be plenty of characters there on your visit.

bad girl!! (good though!) … we used to know someone who reminded us of Desperate Dan and we’d call him that to ourselves! – bit mean!

There were several really Scottish stereotype characters round the City Centre. I could not believe it.
